About Frogie – Cross the Road

Frogie – Cross the Road is a free online arcade game where you guide a tiny green frog through fast-moving lanes, dodge dangerous obstacles, and survive as long as you can. Each hop moves Frogie one step forward, and the world ahead is a mix of grassy fields, stone paths, busy roads full of trucks, and rivers crossed by floating wooden planks. Every level asks you to time your jumps carefully, because one wrong hop can end in a collision or a splash.

The further you go, the more intense the challenge becomes, with traffic speeding up and rivers getting wider. Along the way, you collect flies for points, improve your reflexes, and try to beat your highest score, all in a colorful game built for quick and engaging sessions.

Game Modes

The home screen offers two main ways to play. Level Mode gives you a target distance to reach, such as 31 meters, and shows your current level number on the button, while Endless Mode asks how far you can go before something stops you. A Daily Challenge sets a fresh distance goal, such as 40 meters, and a Come Back Tomorrow banner shows when you have already completed the current one.

Roads, Rivers, and Obstacles

The map is built from rows of different terrain, so you have to adjust your approach as you move up the screen. Grassy areas are safe and filled with trees, bushes, and a village building in the background, while stone paths mark a break between hazards. Roads carry orange and blue trucks sliding across the screen at different speeds, and rivers are filled with orange planks you have to land on to stay dry. A Keep Moving bar at the bottom of the screen fills as you linger, nudging you not to stay still for too long.

Flies, Score, and Frogs

Small flies appear along the way, and your total shows in the top left corner next to a fly icon. Your distance score is displayed at the top of the screen as you hop, and a trophy on the home screen records your best score. In the Frogs menu, you spend flies to unlock new frog skins, such as Aqua, Amber, and Cocoa, each priced at a different number of flies, with the Classic frog selected from the start.

Revive and Rewards

When Frogie takes a fall, a Revive Frogie screen counts down from a few seconds and offers a Revive Now button so you can continue your run after watching a short ad. If you let the timer run out, a Game Over screen shows your score and best score, with buttons to go Home or Replay. A Daily Reward button on the home screen gives you another reason to check back each day, and finishing a level shows a Well Done screen with the flies you earned.

Tips for Crossing Safely

  • Watch the trucks for a full pass before hopping onto a road, since their speed changes from lane to lane.
  • Look for planks that are drifting toward you on a river and time your jump so you land in the middle.
  • Do not stand still for long, because the Keep Moving bar warns that waiting too long can cost you the run.
  • Collect flies when they are close, but never at the cost of an unsafe jump.

  1. Pick a mode — Choose Level Mode, Endless Mode, or the Daily Challenge from the home screen.
  2. Hop forward — Swipe up, left, or right, or press the arrow keys, to move Frogie.
  3. Cross the roads — Time your jumps between the passing trucks.
  4. Cross the rivers — Land on the floating planks to stay dry.
  5. Collect flies — Grab flies along the way to build your total.
  6. Reach the target — Finish the level or beat your best distance score.
