State.io is a free online real-time strategy game about conquering territory before your opponents do. You control a set of regions on a map made up of many small territories, and every region you hold automatically generates troops over time. Tap a region you control, then tap a neighboring region to send your army in — enough troops to overwhelm the defenders and it flips to your color. The whole map is contested at once, so while you are pushing one border, your rivals are attacking another, and the game becomes a constant balancing act between offense and defense.

Conquering Territory
Every region on the State.io map slowly fills up with troops on its own, shown as a number inside the territory. To attack, click your region and then click an adjacent enemy or neutral territory — if your troop count is higher than the defender’s, the territory becomes yours and any leftover troops carry over as its new garrison. Because troops only regenerate over time, overextending into too many fights at once can leave your home regions thin and vulnerable to a counter-attack from another player.
Multiplayer Competition
State.io is played against other opponents on the same board, whether that is a single rival early on or several AI and player-controlled factions in later, larger matches. Because everyone is expanding simultaneously, timing matters as much as raw troop numbers — a region left undefended while you push elsewhere is an easy target for whoever is paying closer attention.
Tips for Winning at State.io
Winning matches and capturing territory earns gold coins that you can spend to increase your starting troop count and your soldiers’ movement speed, both of which snowball your future matches. Rather than dumping every soldier into one attack, spread your units across multiple fronts so you’re never left exposed on your other borders. When an opponent has clearly concentrated their forces in one region, combine attacks from two or more of your own bordering territories at once to overwhelm them rather than trickling troops in one region at a time.
